Elderly Care Program

General Information
The Elderly Care program is an associate degree program within the Department of Health Care Services. The population structure is changing in the world and in Turkey. According to studies, the rate of elderly population in our country is increasing over the years and it is predicted that employment in this field will gradually increase. In addition, the rate of urbanization is increasing and the traditional family structure is changing. Due to these changes, the care needs of the elderly population are increasing. There are professionals serving in this field at different levels. However, since there is no professional group among these professionals that can provide one-on-one service to the elderly and handle the elderly holistically, there is a need for intermediate personnel who can carry out this service professionally and provide care and rehabilitation to all elderly individuals, whether they need care or not, and to increase their quality of life. Elderly care programs have begun to be opened to train contributing intermediate professional staff. In this context, courses such as elderly care principles and practices, rehabilitation for the elderly, chronic diseases for the elderly, and home elderly care services are given in this program. A 30-day internship to experience the knowledge acquired in the courses in practice is also among the graduation requirements.
